Disabled peoples views on how their rights can be better supported are now on record. That's thanks to a report that was officially launched at the end of last year, to great fanfare at the Beehive's Banqueting hall. Inspired by a Canadian based approach to Disability Rights promotion, the Government funded a grouping of disabled peoples organisations to survey the disability community in this country.

Enlisting a team of disabled monitors, site coordinators and interviewers, the Convention Coalition - so named to acknowledge the impetus given the project by the UN Disability Convention - extensively surveyed the disability community over several months. The conclusions are contained in the Report, 'Disability Rights In Aoteroa New Zealand 2010'.
