When Anne Hawker took over the reins last week as World President of Rehabilitation International, it marked a first for the organization. Not because Anne Hawker's the first New Zealander in the role. That honour went to John Stott back in the nineties. And it's not because she's the first disabled person - John Stott again. No, Anne Hawker's the first ever woman president of an organization that's been around for more than three quarters of a century. Time enough says Anne Hawker for Rehabilitation International to have female president number one!
