Wild weather hits Banks Peninsula, Canterbury

From Nine To Noon, 9:25 am today

Much of Banks Peninsula has been cut off this morning after flooding and slips closed State Highway 75 between Tai Tapu and Akaroa. 

Waka Kotahi is working to clear the road enough to allow emergency services through. 

There are also a number of homes without power in Banks Peninsula and the surrounding areas this morning including Diamond Harbour, Port Levy, Island Bay, Lucas Bay,  Ahuriri and Little River.
