2021's extreme weather events have cost insurers and policy holders a record $304.9m so far this year. 

From May's flooding in Canterbury to a tornado in Auckland in June, flooding in July and August, and September's windstorm in the South Island, the Insurance Council is calling on the government to be more proactive on climate change resilience.
