09:05 Is it time for a common trans-Tasman border?

Airlines and tourism bodies in New Zealand and Australia are backing calls to slash red tape with border processing at Australian and New Zealand airports. A report out this week, commissioned by Australia's main tourism and transport group, called for sweeping changes that would potentially effect the nearly seven million trans-Tasman passenger journeys that take place each year. The report proposes building on trials by Air New Zealand at Brisbane Airport, and air transport technology giant SITA to use bio-metric technology to identify passengers. Lynn Freeman speaks with Tourism & Transport Forum Australia chief executive Margy Osmond, and her New Zealand counterpart Chris Roberts, the chief executive of the Tourism Industry Aotearoa.
