Dairy giant Fonterra has applied to continue dumping waste into the Mangatainoka River, which feeds into the already very polluted Manawatu River. In August, Fonterra signed the Manawatu River Accord, an agreement to work with other groups and the community to clean up the river.

09:25 Looted art database
A new online database recording more than 20,000 works of art looted by the Nazis from Jews in France and Belgium during World War II has been launched. The joint project between the US-based Claims Conference and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum is based on records the Nazis produced in Paris, and is designed to help families search for art they believe may have been seized.
