You may remember back in May, we spoke to former Wellington Mayor Justin Lester about his campaign to have New Zealand cricket stalwart Ewen Chatfield inducted as a life member of New Zealand Cricket.
In addition to his stellar career for both New Zealand and Wellington, Chatfield has long been dedicated to the grassroots of the game, particularly his beloved Naenae Cricket Club. Famously, he only stopped playing club cricket six years ago, at the age of 68.
This week, the New Zealand Cricket Board met and elected three new life members, one of whom was the Naenae Express himself.
So we thought we'd better catch up with him. Emile speaks to Ewen, fittingly from his taxi, just after he'd finished his shift for the day.
