How playing sounds while asleep could impact memories

Playing sound while you are sleeping could help to strengthen some memories, while weakening others according to new research from the University of York. While the research is new, it suggests that the approach could be used to help people living with traumatic recollections.

Dr Aidan Horner is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience at University of York, and principal investigator at the York Episodic Memory Lab. He joins the show to explain.
