Glimmer of hope for diaspora as MIQ pause ends

From Nights, 8:35 pm on 15 September 2021

Stranded Kiwis desperate to get home have a glimmer of hope from the MIQ system from next Monday. The Government stopped opening up rooms in MIQ following the Delta outbreak - only those in emergencies could apply for a spot. Covid-19 Response Minister Chris Hipkins has confirmed the pause will end on Monday morning. Three-thousand rooms will be released over the September to December period - in a new online lottery system. Alexandra Birt from the Grounded Kiwis group tells Bryan Crump how Kiwis overseas are responding.
