Ghost Fishing

From Nights, 7:12 pm on 7 September 2017

Our first topic tonight is ghost fishing. That's the fishing many nets do when we've stopped fishing with them - and which end up snaring and killing millions of sea creatures after we've discarded them. Rob Wilson is president of a New Zealand group dedicated to somehow getting rid of them, or maybe stopping these nets from being abandoned at sea in the first place. The organisation's called Ghost Fishing NZ, and Rob is with me now along with the Niwa marine scientist, Dr Serena Cox.
