8:30 Can you get married without breaking the bank?

In the podium of life expenses, there's a retirement fund, there's a deposit on a house, and there's your wedding.

One wedding planner has said the average cost of getting hitched in New Zealand is $87,000.

For a second opinion and some tips for making savings, Emile Donovan calls up Fallon Broadley, the creative director of The Little Hire Company in Christchurch, which services weddings across the South Island.

A family portrait. Mum Fallon and Dad Tom sit with their two kids on their knees, and their dog in between them. They all smile at the camera.

Every Monday on Nights, we invite a guest to share a whakataukī - a Māori proverb - that's meaningful to them.

Tonight, we're chatting to Dame Hinewehi Mohi (Ngāti Kahungunu, Ngāi Tūhoe).

Hinewehi is a renowned musician and producer whose inimitable contributions to the Aotearoa music industry earned her a place in the NZ Music Hall of Fame in 2024.

In 2021, she was appointed Dame Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2021 for her services to Māori, music and television in the Queen's Birthday Honours List.

She also co-founded the Raukatauri Music Therapy Centre, with her husband George, which provides music therapy to both children and adults across Aotearoa.

10:17 Changes coming for how content is classified

As we consume more and more of our content online, how that material is classified or rated has also had to change with the times.

Since 2021, some content providers have been able to self-rate their material according to guidelines set by the Classification Office, and the government is now considering expanding this to include other forms of media.

New Zealand's Chief Censor, Caroline Flora, says the self-rating system is working well, and that rating content is more important than ever.

She joins Emile Donovan.
