After 2600 kilometres and 13 years of trekking across private farmland on horseback, foot and bike, the 330 participants on the Great New Zealand Trek are nearing Slope Point, the southernmost point in New Zealand and their final destination. The trek started at Cape Reinga in 2006 and each year participants have reconvened to complete another stage and continue their journey. The goal of the trek has been to raise money for multiple sclerosis and organiser Kitty Johnson says $400,000 has been gifted to the Malaghan Institute of Medical Research's MS programme.
Lately with Karyn Hay is a late night radio show on RNZ National, with an eye on live events, an ear for music, a great sense of humour and a genuine interest in people and their stories.
