VIDEO PREMIERE: Christchurch singer-songwriter Mousey with new video ‘Hopeless in Love’

From RNZ Music, 10:00 am on 18 June 2020

We’re proud to present the new video from Silver Scroll-nominated musician Mousey. ‘Hopeless in Love’ is from her debut album Lemon Law, which came out in October.

Mousey – aka Sarena Close – released her debut album Lemon Law in October last year and quickly made a name for herself as a rising star: the album’s first single ‘Extreme Highs’ was nominated for the coveted Silver Scroll songwriting award. Pretty impressive for her first ever release!

‘Hopeless In Love’ is a breakup song, and its video is slow-paced and introspective, with Mousey embracing her melancholy side.

“It’s about the loss of someone you used to spend your time with,” Mousey says, “Now you’re left not being able to do the things you used to – the other person was the only reason those things were interesting anyway.

“Now you’ve got too much time to think about them when all you want to do is move on. Those memories are no longer good, they’ve been tainted, a waste of time.”

‘Hopeless In Love’ is the final video to be released from Lemon Law before Mousey heads back into the studio to record her next album!
