Auckland-based musician Geoff Ong is a self-proclaimed ‘pop star for dorks’ and he’s about to release a brand new pop banger – ‘Don’t Know You No More’. RNZ Music is delighted to be the first to share it!
Geoff says ‘Don't Know You No More’ is about the moment you realise that someone you used to know intimately is a stranger again.
"Like, ‘Ok, we're still friends on Facebook and stuff and sometimes we'll like each other's posts,’ but beyond that, I have no idea who they even are anymore," says Geoff, "Sometimes it's a gradual realisation, but for me it was a sudden one, and that's what inspired the song.”
The video is directed by Lochana Wijesundera
‘Don’t Know You No More’ is a follow-up to Geoff’s last single, ‘Fingerprints’, which came out in June. Both tracks feel quite nostalgic, and we reckon they’ll sound pretty good on your summer playlist.
Outside of music, Geoff’s passionate about issues surrounding race and cultural identity, particularly the visibility of Asian New Zealanders in arts and music.
Geoff's single release party is on Friday, October the 12th at Cassette Nine with support from Imugi.
