Hawke's Bay mayors are telling the government they need much more detail about a new plan to decide if people have to permanently leave their flood damaged homes.
They say cyclone hit communities are desperate for certainty.
The new plan will put houses three categories range from needing simple repairs to never being rebuilt but there's no deadline for when people will be told or how they will be consulted.
