Heavy rain forecast for parts of North Island

Some wild weather has begun to sweep across Te Ika-a-maui, with rain warnings in place across Northland and the East Coast. Rain is set to continue for the rest of the day, and could cause surface flooding in places. Up to 200 millimetres is expected to fall Gisborne, and heavy downpours are forecast for the Bay of Plenty and the Coromandel Peninsula. NIWA meterologist Chris Brandolino spoke to Corin Dann.
