Waka Kotahi is advising drivers to take care on roads affected by recent flooding down South.
Compounding the effects of the last few days those travelling on the alpine passes are now being told to expect fresh snow.
State Highway 80 continues to be closed between Ben Ohau and Mount Cook. Snow has closed the Lewis Pass and Porters Pass.
State Highway 6 is closed at Murchison, between State Highway 65 and Hinehaka Rd, due to a rockfall.
