Waka Kotahi is warning drivers to prepare for hazardous driving conditions today, as rain and winds blast the country.
Coromandel has had the most rain so far with 195 millmeters in the last 24 hours - that's caused the closure of State Highway 25 and problems on local roads around Whitianga and Pauanui.
In Auckland there are speed limits on the the harbour bridge and a warning it might be closed at short notice if wind speeds pick up as forecast.
Down south snow has already closed Porter Pass and chains are being advised for anyone thinking of driving over any of the alpine passes.
