Tropical cyclone warning system could help islands prepare

From Morning Report, 8:53 am on 24 July 2020

A new tropical cyclone warning system hopes to give Pacific Islands months more time to prepare for big weather events.

The new system will be able to predict tropical cyclones for individual countries up to four months before the start of the cyclone season.

It's a project developed by a team of climate scientists from NIWA and the University of Newcastle in Australia.

Dr Andrew Magee is from Centre for Water, Climate and Land at the University of Newcastle.
