Whānau Ora can expect boost in Budget - Jackson

From Morning Report, 6:16 am on 30 May 2019

The co-chair of Labour's Māori caucus says there will be targeted funding for Māori and Whānau Ora can expect a boost in the 2019 Budget.

Willie Jackson announced at Waitangi in February there would be more targeted funding in this year's Budget after considerable backlash from Māori organisations last year, after the government concentrated on universal funding, such as increasing access to GPs for children under 14.

Whānau Ora didn't receive any additional funding last year and was put under review.

Mr Jackson told RNZ political reporter Jo Moir Māori ministers have been advocating for Māori and specific targeted funding.
