East Coast braces for more after rain batters region

The East Coast is braced for more heavy rain today after yesterday's big downpour caused widespread flooding, cut power and closed roads. About 20 families had to evacuate their homes in Tolaga Bay north of Gisborne and were unable to return last night. In the most dramatic incident, two grandparents and their grandchild had to be airlifted from the roof of their home as floodwaters raged through their property.
