Weather: Flooded Tolaga Bay faces further deluge
Twenty families in Tolaga Bay on the East Coast have spent the night with friends and neighbours after being forced to evacuate their homes because of flooding. And another major band of rain is expected to hit Tolaga Bay on Tuesday morning, which may mean more rescues. One family of three was airlifted off their roof on Monday after being stranded for four hours. Other households potentially at risk have also been monitored. Louise Bennett is Tairawhiti civil defence emergency manager. She describes the scene to Susie Ferguson as the sun comes up.
