Edgecumble flood report 'pretty disappointing'

From Morning Report, 8:36 am on 4 October 2017

Edgecumbe residents are this morning still trying to digest the findings of an independent report into the eastern Bay of Plenty's wide-spread flooding in April, after the Rangitaiki river breached its banks, leaving half the town under water.

Sir Michael Cullen led the review, which found residents were not sufficiently aware of the flood risk, and there were no evacuation plans.

He says it was lucky no one died in the flooding. But residents have been left frustrated. One local, Shane Lowe, joins us to explain.
