Throughout Te Urewera, the heavy rain caused slips and had rivers breaking their banks, flooding homes and cutting power.
Ruatahuna, Minginui and Te Whaiti were cut off by slips over the road.
Flooding also blocked the road into Waimana, Ruatoki and Taneatua.
