From Morning Report, 7:10 am on 13 March 2017

Auckland is getting back on its feet today after flash flooding this weekend inundated hundreds of homes, turned roads into rivers and bought much of the city to a halt.

While the rainstorm caused flooding from Northland to Hawkes Bay - it was Auckland that bore the brunt with 321 homes affected.

Many people became trapped in floodwaters with fire crews using ropes to rescue them. Some suffered from exposure.

A group of New Lynn residents were forced to stay in emergency housing and a furniture maker says his business is at risk after his second flood in five years.

As Sharon Brettkelly reports the residents are blaming Auckland council for failing to keep culverts clear of rubbish.
