Canterbury flooding - what's the weather doing next?
Nearly 400 millimetres of rain has fallen in parts of the foothills of the Southern Alps. Rivers are overflowing, or are close to doing so, and there are concerns about the stability of some stop-banks. Dozens of roads are shut because of the water, debris, slips, wash outs or damaged bridges. Max Towle gets an update on the record-breaking weather with NIWA meteorologist Chris Brandolino.
