Coromandel civil defence securing homes, structures in bad storm
Violent waves continue to batter the Coromandel coast - flooding roads and damaging coastline structures over the past 24 hours. Civil Defence Coromandel's area manager Garry Towler says there has been massive sand loss on all the beaches, with Brophy's Beach the worst-affected. He says staff members are working between the tides to push up sand and rocks to secure two private properties as well as boardwalks and steps at Brophy's Beach. Mr Towler tells Max Towle that king tides will commence on Wednesday.
