On the 77th Birthday of David Bowie we revisit the day Ziggy Stardust was officially welcomed onto the Takapuwahia Marae in Porirua shortly before his first concert in Wellington as part of his 1983 'Serious Moonlight”.

Made to mark the 25th anniversary of the occasion, producer Sam Coley talks to members of the Ngati Toa tribe who were present that day, while professionals involved in the tour reflected on the event that Bowie himself called…  “One of the most hospitable experiences of my life”…
