10:30 Recognising New Zealand sign language

This week is New Zealand Sign Language Week which coincides with International Week of the Deaf.

Tomorrow is the United Nations International day of Sign Languages and Karyn speaks with the programme director of Victoria University's New Zealand Sign Language Studies, Dr Rachel McKee, about the programme, its students and its research into New Zealand's third official language, te reo Turi.

10:45 Rugby crowds back in stands this weekend

Taranaki Rugby is expecting a sell-out crowd for its first defence of the Ranfurly Shield this weekend. With the country moving to pandemic alert level one -outside Auckland, crowds are now allowed at Mitre-10 Cup games and Taranaki fans look set to capitalise! 

Tickets for Sunday's match went on sale earlier today. It's a dramatic turnaround for the Taranaki Rugby Union who have had a very busy year. Karyn speaks to the Business Development Manager for the Union Jimmy Fastier.
