10:20 Search continues for missing NZ livestock carrier in the East China Sea

The search and rescue operation continues in the East China Sea for the missing Gulf Livestock 1 ship with 43 crew including two New Zealanders and a cargo of 5,800 live cattle.

Japan's Coastguard says one crew member who has been rescued told them the ship's engine failed and it was hit by a wave and capsized.

Karyn speaks with Australian vet Lynn Simpson who has done 57 voyages on livestock ships.

On the 7th of September 1909 ‘Messrs Scott and Sharpe’ found the heaviest gold nugget on record in New Zealand at Ross on the West Coast. Karyn is calling Rick Fennell from the Ross Goldfields Information & Heritage Centre to talk about where the nugget was found, and what happened to it!
