The Prime Minister, John Key, has joined a growing list of international leaders visiting the south east Asian nation, Myanmar, to support its return to democracy.
But at the same time he, and a number of other curious would-be investors, are eyeing up the country's natural resources, and trade opportunities.
Demelza Leslie travelled to Myanmar to find out whether, after previously being under repressive military rule for decades, it can be transformed into a democratic country, and what role the international community has to play.
