Are Aucklanders in favour of Ak Council selling Airport shares?
Auckland Mayor Wayne Brown is under fire again, not just for his proposed sale of council shares in the city's airport but because a number of media outlets were excluded from his budget announcement. In an unprecdented playout of events journalists from TVNZ, Newshub and Stuff were not invited to hear the Mayor's speech. His media team said a 'select few journalists' were invited on the basis they were 'best able to convey the mayor's message'. This was despite the Mayor also making himself unavailable to take questions. It comes amidst a furore over whether the council should sell its Auckland Airport shares to stave off more debt. Mayor Wayne Brown says this is necessary to avoid rate rises of more than 6.7 per cent. In a moment we'll hear what Act leader David Seymour makes of it all.. But first our reporter Leonard Powell asked Aucklanders in the CBD if they were in favour of selling the city's airport shares.
