Turkey election: Erdogan wins, country still divided
Turkey's Recep Tayyip Erdogan has secured a third term as president. He has already ruled the country for two decades, as both Prime Minister and President. Speaking to supporters after winning about 52 percent of the vote, he said Turkey itself is the winner. The country remains in the grip of an economic crisis and high-inflation and was struck by earthquakes in February that left more than 50-thousand people dead. New Zealander Simon Wigley is the dean of the Faculty of Humanities & Letters at Ankara's Bilkent University, Nathan Rarere asked him how the country is looking at Erdogan's win.
