SH2 reopens between Wairoa and Napier

Three months since the devastation wrought by Cyclone Gabrielle, a vital lifeline has been reopened in Hawkes Bay, with traffic resuming on State Highway 2 this week between Wairoa and Napier Wairoa had been cut off from the rest of region since the deluge with Waka Kotahi saying that of all the roading destruction in the area this stretch of highway suffered the most damage. Nathan Rarere asked Tutira resident and engineer Rosie Tong what it meant for locals to have their arterial route back.
