Sprint canoeist Aimee Fisher's brother Rob on her success

From First Up, 5:45 am on 27 April 2022

World Champion sprint canoeist Aimee Fisher is preparing to face off against Olympic champ Lisa Carrington for ONE spot at the world champs. Tomorrow's race is the decider in the K1 500 event at the national canoe sprint championships at Laka Karapiro. Fisher won the first of their three races by just point-zero-eight of a second on Saturday, while Carrington pulled ahead in the race number two, winning by point-one-one of a second. Despite both women being at the very top of their game, only the winner will represent New Zealand at the 2022 World Championships in Canada this August. We wanted to catch up with Aimee ahead of the big day but understandably she said she was too focused the big race. She kindly put us in touch with her brother Rob instead, who Nathan Rarere asked why it is we can't send both athletes and take home the gold and the silver.
