Our First Up studio is situated on Hobson St in central Auckland so our staff spend a fair amount of time travelling through the central city to and from work. And even though we're not in a lockdown, it's clear that the normally bustling CBD is ... pretty dead. It seems to be a combination of people isolating because of Covid, people not wanting to risk getting sick with a trip into town, and the many office workers who've continued working from home despite not being required to. All valid reasons ... but what about the city businesses which rely on the foot traffic for their livelihoods? We sent our producer Matthew Theunissen to see how they're getting on.
