Kiwi Ukrainians manage to flee Ukraine as fighting worsens

On Christmas day Nigel Peterson's wife Nadiia left New Zealand with their young son to visit her family in Ukraine - she hadn't seen them since the pandemic began and it is the first time her parents had met their grandchild. Nadiia had a flight booked to return from Kyiv at the end of March, after the borders reopened but as the fighting started she has had to flee Ukraine. Nigel told our producer Ellie Jay, they never expected this to happen.
