Kiwi woman, stuck in Australia, fears pension will be cut
A Kiwi woman stuck in Brisbane after travelling there for medical treatment fears her pension will be cut if she doesn't make it home in the next few days. In ordinary circumstances pensions stop being paid if someone is out of the country for longer than six months, but the Ministry of Social Development has made an exemption for people unable to travel home to New Zealand because of Covid-19 However, the woman, who asked that we just refer to her as Lynn, says because she receives a so-called "spouses pension", she will no longer be getting paid and might even have to pay some of it back. She spoke with our producer Matthew Theunissen.
