Reti: Northlanders pragmatic with Alert level change

From First Up, 5:31 am on 3 November 2021

The the top of the North Island is now in an Alert Level 3 lockdown after two mystery cases of Covid-19 were detected in Taipa, just south of the Karikari Peninsula. A boundary has been set up from the tip of the Hokianga Harbour at Mangamuka Junction, to the Kaeo River Bridge on the east coast. It'll be monitored by police. Covid-19 Respose Minister Chris Hipkins says despite extensive interviews, contact tracers have been unable to find links with other cases in Northland for the two people in Northland. He says they've been forthcoming with information and have been using the Covid tracer app. Shortly after the news broke last night, Nathan Rarere spoke with the Deputy Leader of the National Party, Dr Shane Reti, who's put his day job to one side so he can administer vaccines in the North. Nathan caught up with him while he was in Opononi, where he was taking in views of the new border.
