NZ couple charter plane flight to start new life in Australia
The closing of the Trans-tasman bubble and the New Zealand lockdown has left Kiwis and Aussies stranded each side of the Tasman for weeks. With flights grounded or cancelled it's pushed some to extreme measures. Tim Knowlman, his husband and their 13 month old daughter were just days away from heading to Australia where they were to start a new life but, after six months of planning, lockdown hit. They'd already sold their house and forwarded their posessions to Australia so, following weeks of stress, cancelled flights and expensive covid tests they booked a charter plane to take them to Brisbane, where they're now in managed isolation. Ellie Jay spoke to Tim about how they did it.
