From First Up, 5:37 am on 17 August 2021

The National Party's deputy leader Shane Reti says New Zealand needs to do more for Afghans who served along side New Zealand forces during the 20-year conflict in Afghanistan. Thousands of people have attempted to leave the country on flights out of Kabul after the Taliban rolled into town yesterday. The NZDF is sending an Airforce Hercules to Afghanistan to repatriate New Zealand citizens and a number of locals who assisted our forces in Bamyan between 2003 and 2013. Ellie Jay asked Dr Reti what more our Government could have done to help.
