Mass vaccination in South Auckland sees 15,500 get jab

From First Up, 5:16 am on 2 August 2021

More than 15-and-a-half thousand people received their first dose of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine at the country's first mass vaccination event over the weekend. 135 staff were involved with the three-day event, including 12 vaccinators working across 242 specially-set-up vaccination booths. Manukau Institute of Technology students, staff and their Whanau were invited to the event and were piled onto busses from MIT's Otara campus and delivered to the events centre to get vaccinated. The event took the total doses now delivered across metro Auckland to well over 700,000 since the programme began. Our producer Matthew Theunissen was shown around the Events Centre yesterday by mass vaccination leader Alex Pimm.
