NZOC on fan events to watch Olympians in action

From First Up, 5:38 am on 19 July 2021

The Cloud on Auckland's Waterfront will be the place to be for fans friends and family of New Zealand's Olympic athletes to watch our team in black. Tens of thousands of people are expected to head to the official fan zone to watch our athletes competing at the Tokyo Games, which begin for New Zealand on Wednesday when our womens footballers go head-to-head with Australia. And with just days to go, it's been confirmed that two athletes in the village tested positive for Covid 19. Last night our producer Matthew Theunissen asked the chief executive of New Zealand's Olympic Committee, Kereyn Smith, how concerning this is. But she began by explaining what's in store for people wanting to get in on the action down at Auckland's Cloud.
