Wellington and surrounding areas moved to Alert Level 2 at six o'clock last night after an Australian tourist who visited the city over the weekend tested positive for Covid-19 upon return to Sydney.
Thousands of Wellingtonians are being told to stay at home due to this latest scare, and those who don't need to isolate are being asked to 'mask up' and 'keep their distance'.
Travel has also been paused with New South Wales, where new cases of the highly-transmissible Delta variant are climbing at an alarming rate.
