From First Up, 5:49 am on 23 June 2021

Now to a story about how a group of prisoners went from making methamphetamine to making yoghurt, turning it into a commodity so popular that it was smuggled between prisons. In 2013 best friends and co-offenders, Dylan and Wal, were sent to Rangipo Prison for manufacturing and supplying meth. One night, they watched an episode of the English cooking show, The River Cottage - hosted by Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall all about how to make yoghurt. After experimenting making it on their hot-water pipes in their cells, they ended up taking workshops and earning the nickname The Yoghurt Mafia. Journalist Eva Corlett contacted Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and he wanted to meet Dylan and Wal over Zoom.
