First godwits arrive in Alaska after 12,000km flight from NZ

The first of the godwits have arrived in Alaska having completed the 12-thousand kilometre trip from New Zealand. New Zealand scientists have fitted some of the little birds with tracking devices and have been cheering them on as they embarked on the epic journey. One of them is Adrian Riegen from the Pukorokora Miranda Shorebird Centre, who spoke with our producer Matthew Theunissen.
