Buchanan: Five Eyes criticism of NZ rooted in misogyny

A leading defence analyst says the backlash the government is facing over its reluctance to extend the Five Eyes alliance beyond security matters is entirely misguided and seems rooted in misogyny. Foreign Minister Nanaia Mahuta made headlines around the world for saying New Zealand would be "uncomfortable" with the remit of the Five Eyes intelligence alliance being expanded to include diplomatic matters. It followed criticism of the government for not signing up to Five Eyes statements on China's interference in Hong Kong. Ellie Jay spoke with defence policy analyst Paul Buchanan from the 36th Parallel consultancy.
