"Eek" Covid-19 mutation circulates in Japan ahead of Olympics

A leading virologist is concerned about the Covid-19 mutation circulating in Japan as our athletes prepare to head there for the Olympics. It's being reported by Japanese media that around 70 per cent of Covid patients at one Tokyo hospital were found to have the E-4-8-4-K mutation, nicknamed "Eek" by some scientists. Dr Jemma Geoghegan from the University of Otago told our producer Matthew Theunissen what the mutation is.
