NZ joins international condemnation of Myanmar's military

New Zealand has joined an international chorus of condemnation of Myanmar's military, after a weekend which saw over 100 peaceful protesters - and innocent bystanders including children - dead. Saturday's crackdown on pro-democracy protesters was the bloodiest day of violence since last month's coup, when the military seized control from Aung San Suu Kyi's government. A dozen top miltary officers, including New Zealand's head of the Defence Force, Air Marshal Kevin Short, released a joint statement yesterday condemning the deadly use of force by Myanmar's security forces and saying the country's military has lost credibility with its people.
