Up to $12m needed to repair Auckland City Art Gallery
Auckland Council will need to find an estimated 10 to 12 million dollars to repair the city's art gallery. The category 1 historic building will need a number of specialist heritage repairs in the next few years, including the replacement of its slate roof. It comes as the council grapples with major financial stress brought on by Covid-19 and the city's drought last year. Jonathan Wilcken from the council's economic and cultural agency, Auckland Unlimited, told our producer Matthew Theunissen what needs to be done to the gallery.
